ROBERT ADAM, ARCHITECT TO THE NOBILITY:

A talk by Tony Burkitt on the life and work of Robert Adam, covering his family background and Grand Tour and development of his own style. It finishes with the scheme which was nearly the downfall of him and his brothers.

After considering architecture as a career, Tony worked in banking all his life, re-kindling his interest in architecture after retirement.

ANCIENT TREES AND WOODLAND IN YORKSHIRE.

A talk by Alan Hunton: The work of the Trust includes the creation of tree planting initiatives and the restoration of damaged sites. He discusses the importance of trees for wildlife and the important ancient trees and woodland sites in Yorkshire with an illustrated talk on a selection of these.

Alan trained as a chemist and decided to volunteer for the Trust as he approached retirement. He has a particular interest in ancient trees and is now, 15years on, the lead Verifier for the Ancient Tree Inventory in the North of England, checking additional records that are made by the public into the inventory, and visiting ancient trees on a regular basis with other volunteers.
