TALK ON THE STREET ANGELS by Paul Blakey.

Paul Blakey MBE is the founder of Street Angels, a project which, with
the help of an amazing team of volunteers, has made a massive
difference in over one hundred towns and cities across the UK and
overseas.  Founded in November 2005, the scheme has seen violent crime and
sexual assaults reduce dramatically in many of the communities where
the projects work. We have expanded our work to inside pubs and clubs,
at music festivals, in communities and at train stations.

Paul was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours 2010 by Her Majesty the Queen.

Paul now heads up a network of local projects, ROC Angels. He has
published a book -“Street Angels – the amazing story from binge to
better”. Paul is an assessor for the Kings Award for Voluntary
Services and has set up various other initiatives such as
#Do1NiceThing.

PRISONER OF HARDWICK AND THE TOWER–Arbella Stuart by David Glover.

Granddaughter of Bess of Hardwick , also a claimant to the English and Scot’s thrones, Arbella Stuart lived a privileged life. From her parents’ marriage, arranged by the famous Bess, we learn of a young, tortured soul, who shone briefly at Elizabeth’s Court, then suffered utter segregation at Hardwick. Welcomed again at the Court of James I, but suspicion of plots and the a foolish marriage caused her arrest. A brief escape and then ….The Tower. A little known, fascinating tale.

David is a well-known local historian.

All welcome. Group members £4.00, non-members £5.00 (includes refreshments). Enquiries 07779 233048.
